Hello everyone Rob Lynch here and the question for today is “How do I create a culture of learning?”
As I wrote in my May 1st blog continuous learning is an important element of successful growth companies and their leaders. These leaders know that in a culture of learning gives them a competitive edge. So, I want to talk to you on five steps on how to do this.
First identify up to three teams, your executive team, your middle management team and what I like to refer to as, your up and coming leader team. Second focus on an area such as, how do we become better leaders of people or what are the best practices related to productivity strategies.
Third find meaningful content from thought leaders. I like to use on-demand videos from Growth Institute their tagline is “Scale up your business by outlearning your competition” and these videos primarily come from twice a year leadership conferences sponsored by “Fortune Magazine.” For more on this go to Gazelles and under Executive Education look for Growth and Scaling Up Summits. These leadership conferences are the best that I have attended ever.
Fourth, require the team to block time, both for homework say 30 to 45 minutes prior to the session as well as to the one hour learning session itself. And if you want to start slow, schedule these once per quarter and then finally have them put into practice what they learned.
