It's Time for a Tune-Up
“Goals without routines are wishes; routines without goals are aimless.” — Verne Harnish
In his book, Scaling Up, Verne Harnish stresses the need for a halfway tune-up in the middle of the year to refresh your team and get back on the right path with routines that will lead you to success and goal accomplishment.
So here we are … it’s July, and we’ve passed the halfway point of 2017. Now what? Have you met the numbers and accomplished the goals you set way back in January?
Many teams start January off with a bang – excited and motivated with new strategies and goals. Unfortunately, by the time July rolls around, motivation is often lost and goals have been put on the back burner. The dreaded summer slowdown has set in.
Don’t let this happen to your team.
While research shows summer vacations and more relaxed settings can be beneficial for the health of your team, don’t let this summer slowdown affect your overall success. Putting your team through a halfway tune-up will help you combine less working hours with higher performance results and make the necessary adjustments to ensure your efforts are being directed to the right tasks. With more time off and shorter days, you have to work smarter, not longer.
